What is the reason you decided to go there?
It’s actually not a new journey that I have, it was a year ago when I really want to indulge myself in a spectacular Dream Theater Show, The metal progressive band that I love. For me, Dream Theather has so many interesting parts, not only how legendary they play the instruments but also the meaning of every lyric that they wrote. With their spectacular masterpiece, I felt that this is gonna be an unforgettable moment to be there with thousands of fans.
How couldn’t you know DT, if you love metal progressive music? I’ve been listening to their music since 2019 some of their songs stuck in my mind with much richer memories behind them. The songs have been accompanying me in every ups and downs in my life. When I saw the announcement directly on their tweet, I felt so fuckin crazy! and without hesitation, I checked out the ticket! I am afraid to lose the chance to meet them alive! It’s actually magical! I even marked my block leave in August! far before the announcement.
How was the travel from Serang City to Manahan Solo?
I always have the times table to plan every vacation, because I am very easy to forget and didn’t want it to become a devastating moment while enjoying my vacation!
Mostly, I really want to spend my travel time as a social exploration to engage and interact with people that I met. so, I chose the train. It takes so slowly but the journey was really amazing! even though I missed my train from Serang Train Station, so I decided to go by Bus to Pasar Senen Station. After I arrived at Pasar Senen Station, I grabbed my tea at Loka Cafe to calm my mind and researched the places that I want to visit while waiting for my train to come at 22.30 WIB, What a memorable moment here, I spent the night on the train so I didn’t have to book a hotel to sleep
Where places you’ve been visited there?
Finally, I arrived at Lempuyangan Train Station, Yogyakarta at 07.00 AM after long hours on the train. I directly go to the hotel to release all the things that I brought! and get ready to explore Yogyakarta in the early day! I walked around Malioboro Avenue to go to many places from a coffee shop to many malls and have the best cuisine there. I planned to spend about 3 days in Yogyakarta before Surakarta because I really want to meet my old friend there.
I was so enjoying my time in Yogyakarta, I visited Malls, Coffee Shops, the legendary food court at night nearby the train station, and paralayang center. I really love to make a documentary of the moments I spent but unfortunately, I have not documented all things there because of my phone camera wasn’t quite good at night and was shaky.
After 3 days in Yogyakarta, I was ready to go to Surakarta by train from Lempuyangan Train Station to Solo Balapan Train Station It took about a hour, quite near, right? It cost about 50K. I arrived in Solo at almost 06.00 PM and grab myself to the hotel I booked but here the dramatic moment happened! I canceled the hotel because it wasn’t suitable for me and I argued a lot with the staff because the room wasn’t as what I saw on the page of their website and I was having hours to wait about my cancellation that can not be made for any reason and I finally decided to move to a better hotel even it cost a lot :( due to the high volume of bookings of Dream Theater Fans from all over Indonesia.
Woke up in the highest room and has a view of Manahan Stadium where The Dream Theater Concert will be held that night! I was so energized to go around that place to exchange my ticket.
Here we go! My dream now felt so alive!
I was very bright on that day! Imagined the atmosphere of the concert and will be met DT’s fans from all over Indonesia.
I have prepared all things to be a metal kid!
Everything alright! This is the time to go back to Manahan Stadium for the concert!!!
